Bank Accounts Can Be ‘Seen’ by Tax Officers
Many people are not yet aware that the Tax Directorate General has special authority to ‘seen’ at someone’s bank account. However, this cannot be done carelessly, there are provisions that must be met before carrying out the operation.
The Directorate General of Taxes authority can only carry out the operation if it has an interest in identifying accounts with a minimum balance of IDR 1 billion. This authority is legally assisted by the banking sector, as a process to identify the conformity between account balances and tax reporting.
The sanctions that will be received if the Taxpayer conspires to cover up the identification process. The Taxpayer will lose access to use banking services, both account opening and financial transactions.
Therefore, it is mandatory for us to report taxes according to the actual reality without committing any fraud.
